There are actually three main grades of cabinets — stock, semi-custom and custom — with much overlap among them. The only hard and fast distinctions are price and size. Custom cabinets are the most expensive; they are made to order in any size you specify. Stock cabinets are the least expensive and are manufactured in fixed sizes. Semi-custom cabinets are in the middle of the price range. They are available in more sizes than stock cabinets, but not every size.  more
