WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MINIMUM PRESERVATION TERM AND THE SHELF-LIFE DATE?
The minimum term of preservation is the date until when the product mantains its specific properties in suitable preservation conditions. It should be written as “best before” followed by the date or information where the date is on the packing. The shelf-life date is instead the last term within the product has to be consumed. The date can be expressed with: – date and month for products with less than 3 months-preservation. – month and year for products which keep more than 3 months but less than 18 months. – year for products with a preservation of 18 months at least.
