Whats the difference between undifferentiated sperm cells and sperm?

0

Each primitive undifferentiated sperm cell (spermatogonia) gives rise to 4 chromosomally unique sperm cells (spermatids) that normally will become capable of reproduction, this is accomplished by spermatogenesis: One spermatogonia doubles its genetic material (in humans, this is 23 pairs of chromosomes doubled to 46 pairs), and then then in two steps (reduction and division) the DNA is reduced to one half the normal amount in each of 4 immature sperm cells called spermatids (in humans 23 single chromosomes each; which will then combine with the 23 single chromosomes in the female egg cell to create a whole new person with 23 pairs of chromosomes.)
