Whats the difference between VRS and VRI?
The Video Relay Service (VRS) involves interpreting a phone call between a hearing consumer and a Deaf or Hard of Hearing consumer. Governed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and utilizing video technology, a Video Interpreter (VI) receives a call from one consumer and connects to the other, interpreting the phone call between the two parties. Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) serves two parties who are in the same location. The interpreter provides services via video technology from a remote location.
