100 years from now? • We’ll be using algorithms to spark ideas and put down layer upon layer of ambient sounds to build on top of. • It will be much easier to compose, borrow and hack into found sounds. the interfaces and the music being recorded will be all one medium. • You’ll work in a 3D space with your hands and body to tease out the sounds that are in your head. • The sounds will persist and be controlled voice by voice in that virtual 3D space, and you’ll share them across the world in near real time with your collaborators, or potential collaborators. • You’ll throw a phrase across to communities overseas, and catch suggestions in your 3D visual web for phrases to follow or surround what you’ve started with. • Reverse engineering even complicated arrangements will be the job of computers, and you’ll be able to see the score transcribed while listening to the music, and then pull out a piece and hack into it as a starting point for something new.
