Whats the history of Lighthouse?
On August 8, 1998, Cooper River Baptist Church in North Charleston committed to establishing a new mission church “somewhere East of the Cooper River.” One year later, Cooper River committed $100,000 and significant other resources to ensure the success of a new church in Mt. Pleasant. God has blessed Lighthouse abundantly from its earliest days. He gathered together a strong core of people who were willing to sacrifice their time, money, and the comfort of attending an established church in order to reach those who don’t know Christ. In February, March and April of 2000, monthly preview services for Lighthouse began in the cafeteria of Laing Middle School. Gifted and committed individuals from the area quickly became part of the founding core. Today, Lighthouse is a welcoming church in the ‘new center’ of fast-growing Mt. Pleasant.
