What’s the long term financial outlook?

Long term, things could be different. After we have our first child, I will be the sole earner for our family. I have a job as a government contractor that is fairly secure and that pays fairly well. In addition, I have a few websites and other online interests with which I earn a fair amount of money (but not full-time income for a family of 3). As long as things continue like this, then I am confident we will be fine. However, in our economy, we all know that things can change in the blink of an eye.
