Note ‘us’ is micro-seconds, which is 10-6 seconds and a ‘ns’ is nano-second, which is 10-9 seconds. Well, 64 byte packets are not very useful. A more useful number is the maximum packet rate for the biggest possible ethernet packet. This allows us to calculate the maximum gross throughput using ethernet frame types. Since the biggest ethernet packet is 1519 bytes ( (98+(1518*8)) * 10ns) + (3us) ) = 125.42us/packet => 7973 packets per second!
