Whats the message behind the song Angels With Dirty Faces?
Homeboy Sandman: That song is about homelessness. One day I was on the train and I watched somebody in obvious need walk through the train asking people for monetary help, and no one provided anything. I felt so ashamed to be part of a society and community of people who have, and watch somebody who could really use help and not help them. It wasn’t the type of thing where I gave a few dollars so I feel better. I’m part of this whole culture too. I’m part of a reality in which we have people living on the outskirts of society that we can help but people just ignore them like their life don’t even mean anything. I was so saddened by it that I made that record. That record was like, how am I going to deal with this? I try to share what I have with people I know and people I don’t know. I understand all people are different. If people just step back and say here you have someone who hasn’t eaten and looks dirty, walking through a place where there are people who waste money.
