Whats the name of the BBC sports presenter is battling thyroid cancer?
Clare Balding, one of the BBC’s best-known sports presenters, is battling thyroid cancer, the Daily Mail can reveal. She has already had two operations and faces further treatment. Yesterday, she bravely made light of her illness, saying: ‘At the moment I sound like Kermit.’ Miss Balding, the face of horse-racing on the BBC, had an initial throat operation in April to remove a cyst but a second operation was necessary to remove her thyroid gland, which was also cancerous. In July, she will undergo radioactive iodine treatment. ‘So far there have been no real side effects,’ she said. ‘I’ve been wheezing slightly but other than that I feel fine. My main worry is my voice because that is what I do. ‘The BBC told me to take as much time off as I like but they know me – I’d feel worse if I took time off.’ Sources: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/
