It is true that New Street has a large number of shops but your best bet for shops is to go into the Bull Ring – especially if it’s cold outside. At present New Street is VERY busy due to the presence of the German Christmas Market. But the Bull Ring is, I think, best for shops. From the New Street Station exit into New Street, come down the “ramp” and turn right down to the bottom of New St. and then turn right again and walk down the slope, past the eating places to the Bull Ring markets and the shops of which there are dozens and all under cover.
