Whats the work of health and safety committees and worker health and safety representatives?
Committees and representatives • identify situations that might be dangerous to workers, and • make recommendations on improving the safety and health of workers. Towards identifying workplace dangers and recommending actions to correct these dangers, committees and worker representatives • get information from the employer on materials, equipment and work processes, • inspect the workplace for dangers at least once a month, • inspect the workplace after an accident, and • participate in investigations of worker refusals of dangerous work. In this way, committees and representatives increase awareness of dangers at the workplace, and make recommendations on how to improve workplace health and safety.
