Whats with the big headed putters, and prices?
They claim different benefits: Blades are for an inside-square-inside stroke, similar to a full swing. They are mostly toe-weighted, another way to facilitate the inside-square-inside stroke. Mallet putters, however, favor a high MOI head, similar to the large driver heads. Most mallets are face-balanced… that, coupled with the high MOI (to prevent twisting open or closed on a mis-hit) promote a straight-back-straight-through swing. Their benefits depend on you and your style of putting. If you like the open-square-open stroke, go with a blade. If a straight-back-straight-through swing is easier for you, go with a mallet. With putters, the possibilities are d@mn near limit-less… you’ll find one that’s perfect for you. Just make sure it’s the proper length!
