It’s not the dealer’s call as it is the the leasing company. You should contact the leasing company and see if they require a pre-termination inspection. I have leased several cars and all leasing companies have contacted me at least 90 days before the end to tell me there would be an inspection. They gave me all teh details, and a number to call to arrange a time for them to inspect the car. An inspector either came to my house or work, did his thing, and left. I got a document of what they found, what the damage fees would be, and some time to fix the problems. For the most part, leasing companies will not bust your balls over wear and tear items. Even really small dings, glass ships, etc, are fine. If the car has cracked glass, dents, serious paint scratches, wasted tires and brakes, then yeah, you’ll have to fix them or pay the fee.
