When a printer has a duty cycle of 5000 pages per month, what does that mean?

A duty cycle refers to amount of time or number of operations a device can perform in a certain period that it is garuanteed to operate at. For your printer, this means that if you attempt to print more than 5000 pages in a single month, you will be operating outside of warrantied conditions, and any damage that occurs to your hardware as a result will not be covered under warranty. Now this doesn’t mean that your printer will go up in smoke or fall over if you print more than 5000 pages in a month. In fact, it would be unlikely that it would do anything except go through quite a bit of toner 🙂 So if you are using this for a business, go ahead and print as much as you want.
