When an EBT contractor uses an overseas call center, how many jobs are sent overseas?
Again, surprisingly few. When New Jersey made the decision to mandate that the EBT call center be located within that state, the net gain in New Jersey jobs was ten at a cost of nearly $1 million over the life of a long-term contract, according to published reports.1 The fact is that the majority of domestic call centers have always been located in just a handful of states. When this function is moved offshore, very few states lose any jobs.
