When are hospitals supposed to submit clinical information for continued stay reviews?

A request for a continued length of stay review for all per-diem reimbursed hospitalizations should be submitted to HSI the day prior to expiration of the certification (the last day certified) if needed. The last day certified is noted in HSI’s certification approval notification and is provided during telephonic review. We also fax a “daily list” to all hospital HSI liaisons listing all in-process reviews as a reminder of records due for continued stay review.
