When did Freedom Hill County Park open?
In 1974 Macomb County Parks and Recreation leased the parkland for $1 from the Huron Clinton Metroparks for 100 years. The park was developed and opened in 1976 during the bicentennial celebration. The park was then named Freedom Hill County Park with the main building being named the Independence Building and the banquet hall the Bicentennial Room. Recently the Bicentennial Room was renamed the Ralph A. Liberato Hall.
