When did Gilcrest/Jewett move from downtown Des Moines?

0

We moved into our new location in Waukee, Iowa in January 2000. Gilcrest/Jewett’s home office had been located in downtown Des Moines since 1856. Over the last decade, we have responded to the market by increasing our product lines as well as adding a carpet division, cabinet division, and window and door division. As a result of this tremendous growth, we outgrew our downtown facility. By moving to Waukee, we increased total space from 7 acres to 26 acres and expanded our showroom to 12,500 square feet and storage space to 160,000 square feet.
