Mendel made his mathematically determined discoveries from observations and research performed between 1856 – 1863. His discoveries were quite complex and, at the beginning, not well accepted. When his job at the Vienna monastery where he worked and lived was changed, he literally put his book documenting his research on a shelf. The book was not discovered until 1900.
