When did Hebrews become Jews?
The Hebrews became Israelites, and there were 12 tribes of Israel. One of those tribes was Judah. The other 11 tribes were all destroyed. Only Judah was left. Thus, the term, “Jews,” for the members of that last tribe. All Jews are still “Hebrews” but there were more tribes at one time. Jews comes from the name of the tribe, and not from the name of a person.
