When did Laura meet Almanzo Wilder?
Laura and her sisters saw Almanzo working in the fields when they first arrived here in Dakota Territory. They also admired his horses, because they were the fastest, and he was always racing through the streets. Pa knew Almanzo and his brother at the feed store and took many a meal with them. Almanzo and Laura attended church and socials, and no doubt became acquainted that way. When Laura started to teach school she understood she would not get home for the entire session, but, Almanzo, came for her the first Friday, after school. He took her home, and then took her back on Sunday afternoon. So, that was the way he started courting Laura.
