Elimina's has managed to answer most of you question but I'd like to point out a couple of errors. Firstly the famous bearded portrait often thought to be a self portrait of Leonardo was made using red chalk. Secondly and most importantly, being an art historian and having studied Leonardo's work for many years, | would argue that there is are surviving self portraits of the artist. Leonardo appears to have depicted himself in his unfinished Adoration of the Magi.
