When do border collie pups start to get really energetic?
Haha, I have a border collie x Staffy and he is VERY energetic, It takes a bit to tire them out, He is a cross breed but he started getting energetic when he was 3mths old and hasn’t stopped since. They have to be very well-trained, it’s important to give them ‘jobs’ to do, as they are cattle dogs. They ARE VERY intelligent dogs, Teach him tricks and give him a job, fetch the paper, etc.. Mine keeps the cats off the benches or other places they shouldn’t be, I tought him to bark once at them and if they don’t get down he will GENTLY nudge them off. LOL, I don’t even have to speak, he see’s them on something they are not supposed to be, and tells them off. Most of the time they see him watching them and they just move anyway. Good way to get his energy up is to teach him to restle from an early age, You should always be able to put your hand in your dogs mouth, they need to learn from a puppy ‘how hard is TOO hard’, ‘gentle play’.
