When dogs mark their territory, is the neighbors lawn an appropriate target?
It was a lovely Wednesday afternoon, so I decided to go out for a stroll with my two dogs and energetic daughter. Our street was bustling with children playing and other folks walking their dogs, enjoying a day off celebrating Veterans Day. We weren’t two houses down the street when our female canine squatted and peed on our neighbor’s lawn. I was startled a bit when I heard a firm voice say, “Hey! Don’t let your dog pee on our lawn.” Knowing this neighbor well and assuming he was kidding, I responded with, “Better your lawn than your car!” as we passed his car parked on the street. “Really,” he continued still using a firm voice, “Female dog pee kills the grass.” “Our grass is fine and the dogs pee on it all the time.” I responded with a slight chuckle before I realized he was really ticked off and clearly not kidding. “I would appreciate it if you would not let your dogs pee on our grass,” he said, now really annoyed with me.
