When drinking for the first time, is it bad to start with vodka?

As a rule, if you want to get drunk, start slow. Drink one shot of hard liquor and wait a few minutes. Then take another. Wait a few minutes. The idea is to measure the effect of the alcohol on your system. If you’ve eaten immediately before drinking, you might need to wait a little longer for the first shot to hit you. Here’s the kicker. Make sure you drink one 8oz glass of water per shot of vodka. This will both help heal the burn of the alcohol and also keep you hydrated. A hangover = dehydration. The pain in your head is your brain shrinking away from the inside of your skull. Always drink it straight. That way you know how much you’re getting and can make better choices about mixed drinks. Oh, and if you’re a girl, pour it yourself from a bottle you’ve opened and that you’ve kept your eyes on all night (i.e., only drink with people you know you can trust!) And stay away from the bucket in the kitchen. Whatever they put in there isn’t something you want to drink.
