In WWII, the Diggers and the Kiwis fought alongside each other in the Western Desert, in the British and Commonwealth Air Forces, and in naval engagements. In Vietnam, the Kiwis had an artillery battery in support of Australian troops at Nui Dat, along with forward observers etc (Captain Maurie Stanley at Long Tan springs to mind), and later, were part of the ANZAC Battalions that developed, following the introduction of NZ Infantry.

Everywhere Australia goes the NZ army is there aswell, from the Boer Wars to the the War in Iraq. “Since World War II the New Zealand army has fought in the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency, the Indonesian confrontation, the Vietnam War, East Timor, and Afghanistan. New Zealand personnel have served in a large number of UN and other peacekeeping deployments, including UNTSO in the Middle East, Operation Agila in Rhodesia, the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai, Cambodia, Bosnia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Angola, Bosnia, Bougainville, the Solomon Islands, and the Sudan.” all of which Australia was involved in as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_… compare those two links to see the places both NZ and AUS served side by side.

NZ and Australian troops first fought together in the Boar war at the close of the 19th century and they fought together again in World War 1, World War 2, Korea, the Malaya Emergency and Vietnam. They are working together today in East Timor, the Solomon Islands, Afghanistan and in many other trouble spots as peace keepers.
