Loggerhead Marinelife Center is ready to release a turtle that had an amputated flipper after being struck by a boat near the Port Everglades Power Plant in October 2008. The loggerhead sea turtle whom the Loggerhead’s staff name Gilda had undergone a physical therapy for more than a year after it went into surgery. Doctors said the turtle was injured by a boat propeller. “She has had a very lengthy recuperation with numerous complications,” said Dr. Nancy Mettee.
