When is the rainy season in India?
It depends on which part of India you are talking about. Typically, westerly monsoon from the Indian Ocean-Arabian Sea reaches the southern tip of India (Kerala) by the end of May or first week of June. It moves north over the next several weeks reaching Mumbai (Bombay) by second week of June and New Delhi by the first week of July. July and August are really wet in Mumbai. Rains are sporadic by late September and vanish by early October. You can get unseasonal rains before and after the regular monsoon season but they are generally rare. The south eastern parts of India mostly get rain from the north easterly winds therefore cities like Chennai (Madras) and Hyderabad get quiet a bit of rain even in November.
