When ist the best time to chartiing your Body Basal temperature (BBT)?

When I was TTC I took my BBT at the same time each morning. I set my alarm and took my temp and if I wasn’t ready to get up i’d just o back to sleep for a while. I’d just stick to taking your temperature in the morning as it’ll be easier to read that way. I used the fertility friend website for my charting and it really helped. It has tips on getting pregnant and all of your charting. There’s message boards and chat rooms so you can talk to others in the same situation as you. www.fertilityfriend.com it’s excellent!

You are sapposed to take you BBT at the same time every morning immediatly first thing after you wake up. You have to have 3 hours of sleep prior to taking your BBT to get and accruate reading. BBT means your body tempurature when you have been sleeping. I wuld suggest to use an alarm clock, keep the thermometer on your bed stand, and set the alarm to go off at the same time every morning. Good luck from a fellow person who is TTC. Lots and Lots of baby dust!

Basal body temperature is the lowest temperature attained by the body during rest (usually during sleep). It is generally measured immediately after awakening and before any physical activity has been undertaken, although the temperature measured at that time is somewhat higher than the true basal body temperature. In women, ovulation causes an increase of one-half to one degree Fahrenheit (one-quarter to one-half degree Celsius) in basal body temperature (BBT); monitoring of BBTs is one way of estimating the day of ovulation. The tendency of a woman to have lower temperatures before ovulation, and higher temperatures afterwards, is known as a biphasic pattern. Charting of this pattern may be used as a component of fertility awareness.

You’re wasting your time taking afternoon and evening temperatures, hon…You ONLY BBT after at least 4 hours of consistent sleep, at around the same time each morning, AS SOON as you wake up. This is the whole point of BBT! If you usually wake up at 7am, then take it at 7. Set your alarm so you don’t miss it as even a difference of half an hour can change your pattern and make things inconsistent. Ideally, it should be no more than 20 minutes difference from your normal waking time. Remember, you want to take it as soon as you wake up…don’t lie there for a bit and then take it, don’t get up and go pee…don’t do anything! Just wake up, grab your thermometer (keep it by the bed), pop it in and find your temp.
