When it comes to CD/DVD burner software, Nero or Roxio Easy CD Creator and why?

I have always found that Nero can perfrom all of my CD/DVD burning needs and I am used to its interface which is easy to use. I believe at one time I did use Roxio but ran into a conflict with another program so I just never went back to it since I’ve never run into that with Nero.

The Roxio came installed in this computer when I bought it. When it went out a year ago, the repairman put a Nero in it. Since I don’t like change, I wasn’t keen on it at first, but now I love it. And I have two reasons: 1) The Nero program is easier than the Roxio. There’s less steps. It does more of the burning process automatically. 2) When I download pictures from my digital camera, it has a program that lets you make a new album or add it to another existing album. It lets you name the album, too. Now that I’m used to it, I like it much better. I think you’d be happy with it.

I think I got burned out on Roxio back when it was still the Adaptec product. It always seemed so problematic and flakey. Nero in the early version was so light weight and worked with every burner in existence. Plus it had the neat Nero Toolkit that would test your optical drive and mount the ISO images back when that wasn’t such a common task. Today if I had a complaint about Nero it would only be that there’s so many different version out there, it’s a little hard to keep track if you’re bouncing from computer to computer as to which had what — specifically when you’re talking about some of the advanced video editing features and the like. I haven’t much played with Roxio recently, but for the computers I’ve seen it installed on it still seems pretty bloated. Given the native burning with most operating systems these days I think both programs are probably less commonly required. But they both still have their place. All in all… Nero would be my choice.
