If you have a standard flat ceiling and vertical walls joining at 90ยบ, it shold be pretty simple. 1) Paint your ceiling (white, or whatever colour), making sure you paint well into the join between ceiling and wall. Don’t try and make a straight line at this point… in fact, try to AVOID a straight line by making sure your ceiling paint gets on to the tops of the walls too. 2) Let the ceiling dry, and if it’s at all patchy, give it a second coat of paint, again painting well into the junction between ceiling and walls, and again making sure you get paint on to the tops of the walls. 3) Now paint your walls. You should be able to paint a reasonably straight line just by using the ceiling/wall join as your guide. 4) Give the walls a second coat of paint; where the paint-line on your wall is dead-straight, you can just paint to within a millimetre/eighth of an inch of the join, but where you feel you didn’t quite paint far enough up the wall, try and improve the line with this second coa
