When the sun dies, will its planetary nebula produce a new star?
No. The amount of mass in a typical planetary nebula is not enough to create a stable star unless it was reassembled at nearly 100 percent efficiency into a brown dwarf star. Only a few tens of percent of the sun’s mass will escape in this way .It will enrich the interstellar medium and mix into it.
