When thinking all-time best baseball players, do you think Ted Williams is underrated?
I know when you think of all-time baseball players he comes up in that category, but when people say the top 5 baseball players I always see Babe Ruth, Willy Mays, Joe Dimaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig. Barely on this site that I see Ted Williams on an all-time list. Good points so far everybody. Actually he is my second favorite player All Time behind Roberto Clemente. His life is fascinating, growing up in a terrible little home in California of which he was very embarrassed about to being a small very teased kid in the minor leagues to being the star of his team and the number one most heckled player by the press. I love learning about Williams, and I just don’t get why he is always forgotten. I wish I could have his confidence, to walk around and think of yourself as the greatest hitter who ever lived. The obstacles he overcame were great, and he is a hero, perhaps a legend. If you care, Summer of ’49 is a great book that has a lot about him if you haven’t already read it. US
