When treating a cedar shake roof, isn’t a common water sealer enough?
The answer is no. Water sealers offer short-term moisture protection only. Initially they will look good but will not last. For long-term protection, a broader based protective treatment is needed. Ideally, that treatment should replenish the wood’s natural resins, rejuvenate its original properties, and include a moss and mildew retardant* along with an effective ultraviolet light inhibitor.
