A temporal temperature is about 1 degree higher than an oral temperature and 2 degrees higher than an underarm temperature it is actually as close to a rectal temp as you’re gonna get. Slide the thermometer In a straight line Across the forehead, midway between the eyebrows and the upper hair line and NOT down the side of the face and make sure all hair is out of the way. It measures the temp of the blood flowing to the heart thus measuring the bodies temp which is why it uses the temporal artery. Hope this helps and just so you know I am a Medical assistant so I know my stuff!
