When was Stanley steamer invented?
The Stanely family bragged that they would give you a new car if you could hold the throttle open for more than 3 minutes. No one could – the power was infinite. $600 seems little now, but in 1906 the working man averaged less than $300 per year. Our steamer has a pilot-gasoline-water-steam system, not a simple car to drive. First the pilot heats the valves -steam and oil – water system to steam – takes about ½ hour from pilot to driving. This car seats two to four people has an 18 inch boiler & burner in front, under the hood a 3×4 ____ engine -10 h.p. – speed infinite. When we purge the cam after driving – the steam fills an entire football field. Totally restored – a beautiful automobile.
