When was the Lake Macbride Sailing Club established?
The Lake Macbride Sailing Club was organized in 1964 as the Hawkeye Sailing Club, and was founded as a non-profit organization interested in improving the sailing and facilities at Lake Macbride in Solon, IA. In 1991, the club’s name was changed to Lake Macbride Yacht Club, and in 1993 was changed again to Lake Macbride Sailing Club. These changes were made to reflect more accurately the lake on which we sail and to reduce confusion between our club and the University of Iowa Sailing Club also located at the lake.
