When was the Nobel Peace Prize created?
Since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been honoring men and women from all corners of the world.in physics, literature, chemistry, and for work in peace. The history of this man deserves a little research as his story is so interesting. There was a family tragedy leading to the loss of the family’s financial position. Later, part scientist and part industrialist… he was interested in figuring out how to blast rocks in a safer way than the method at that time of using unstable nitroglycerin (very unstable, very explosive). His patent for a detonator to be used with dynamite brought forth on the world a power which could be used for great destruction. In his will, he left instructions on how his wishes to have a prize given for those in this world who contribute to the world’s peace….to offset perhaps guilt over his riches being made from an invention of such destruction.
