The earliest record we have of William Shakespeare is his baptism on Wednesday, April the 26th, 1564. We don't actually know his birthday but from this record we assume he was born in 1564. By knowing when he was baptised, we can guess that he was born three days prior on St. George's day, although we have no evidence of this.  more

Shakespeare was born in 1564. The exact date of his birth is not known. The register of Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, records his baptism on April 26. He is traditionally said to have been born on April 23 (St George's Day), but there is no evidence to prove this. Source: Various works, including "Shakespeare's Lives" by S. Schoenbaum.  more
