Cook’s gig on April 30, 2009, at the Times Union Center in Albany, was one of the first shows of a yearlong world tour in support of his new album and Comedy Central special “Isolated Incident.” In 2007, Cook headlined an extensive American tour, but this was his first wide-reaching international jaunt and, at nearly a year, by far the longest. The name “Isolated Incident,” comes from the darker comedy he wrote while both of his parents were dying of cancer. Cook said that he mixed comedy with his own truth. At the end of the day, it was one of the healthiest things he had done, working through it with laughter and the crowds of people. The production of his one-hour Comedy Central special will be the first on the network to be shown commercial-free. The special will air at 10 p.m. on May 17th.
