When will the Secretary of State make her decision on the proposals in Norfolk, Suffolk and Devon?

The deadline for the Committee to submit their advice to the Secretary of State is 15 July 2009. Upon receipt of advice, the Secretary of State cannot legally take a decision for a further 6 weeks. During that six week period there is a four week period where representations can be made by the public to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State may then decide to: • Implement, by Order, with or without modification any unitary proposal made by the Committee; • Implement, by Order, the original proposal (made by Exeter, Ipswich or Norwich), with or without modification; or • Take no further action.
