When will they make the hobbit into a movie?
Yup it’s coming out in 2 parts starting sometime in 2010 i think. Guillermo del Toro is directing. Toro will be good because he did Pan’s Labyrinth and it had that nice historical fantasy feeling that gave a slow story a catchy feel and emotional capture, and I think that that’s what The Hobbit needs. I’m glad they chose him. Peter Jackson didn’t want to direct because he was afraid that he would run into trouble with New Line Cinema, because they apparently owed him $100 million, which was uneasily settled, and he’s still a bit annoyed (I would be too). Also, he doesn’t want to be thought of as someone who only ran into a miracle with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, so he’ll assume the role of the guy who has nothing to lose, but so much to gain – the man with the power. Also, Sam Raimi showed interest in directing the Hobbit a few months ago. I’m glad that he won’t because he has some amazing ideas for Spider-Man 4, and I would really like him to write the script and direct as well, w
