Where are good places to buy wood and paint in Oxford?
You have two main options when purchasing timber and paint for productions in Oxford. Either (a) you go with a builders merchant, or (b) you use a standard DIY store. When building for a production in the Playhouse, you will usually go for the former since the quantities you require tend to be larger, they provide free delivery, and the Playhouse have accounts with them. You do not need to have accounts to order with either of these companies, and both will deliver for free, but you will need to discuss payment options with them – and I suspect you will end up having to either pay by card over the phone or by cheque on delivery. Neither of these companies are particularly cheap, but Brewers has a very wide range of paint (it is all mixed for you), and Powells is cheap for plywood (especially if you purchase more than 20 sheets).
