Where are the Best French Fries in Austin, Texas?

My friend and I happened across Houstons quite by accident. As we parked and walked up to the resturant the smell was intoxicating. Walking in we were promptly greeted and had a drink at the bar as we waited for a table. We were told to expect about a 20 min. wait but were ready to be seated in less than 10. The lighting is dark and cozy with touches burning throughout…what to make a good impression? Everyone looks great in this lighting. I had on a pair of jeans and a blouse and was rather casual but it did not make me feel underdressed in any way although if I had dressed up that would have been great is well. The food…omg…the steak was amazing..I think it was hickory? but the flavor was well worth it. Not a lot of extras served other than potatoes but you can add sides if your appetite desires more. What you get for the money….Ambiance…very tastefull food…great wines…and accomidating service….better wine glasses, china and silver….a nice suprise will definately go

This review is of the Anderson/IH-35 location…. No pre-cooked burger here, fresh off of the grill. Burger was very tasty but could have used more spices in my opinion. Fries were crisp & fresh, with a little seasoned salt on them. All-in-all, it was a great lunch and I’m all over going back when I’m in the cheeseburger mood! Judging by the line of people waiting to place an order, it’s gotta be a good place all the time!Pros + Good FoodCons – None I can think of.

We’re visiting from out of town and noticed the long lines of cars often lining up at the drive-through as we drove by to get some take out meals at the Whole Foods up the road. That got our curiosity, so I checked online to find out if their burgers are charbroiled, which is the only kind of burger I’ll usually eat. I was initially disappointed to find out that they’re not, however their website impressed us enough to give them a try last night. We both ordered burgers with whole wheat buns, and added onions and pickles (and extra sauce). My hubby got an order of fries and a chocolate shake…I ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade. We were thoroughly and surprisingly impressed! The burgers were fantastic…everything tasted fresh and had (for our palates) the optimum proportions of meat, bun, lettuce, organic tomatoes, diced onions, pickles and sauce. I’d read other reviews that complained about the lack of tastiness in their burgers, but we both found them to be tasty and yet not over

My husband and I ate there with a couple of friends. I had the Tuna Melt (juicy and savory!) and hubby had a Double Flatty Burger (also excellent). The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. You can choose to eat in the dining room, which has the feel of a classic burger joint. Or you can go eat on the “Back Patio” which is a LARGE deck area with an assortment of tables and a HUGE bigscreen TV where they show sports games. If you eat out there, you can have your dog with you. They even have theme nights especially for people and their dogs. I wish I could eat there regularly, but I live too far away from Austin!Pros + excellent food, fun relaxed atmosphereCons – There are no Hubs close to where I live!

Nice ambience and helpful service improved lackluster food. Everything sounded better on the menu than it tasted in execution, unfortunately. The fried oyster appetizer tasted like its cooking oil —no oyster flavor whatsoever. Old or overused oil is the cause. The smoked salmon appetizer dish claimed to have aioli with it, but instead, it arrived with a whipped herb butter (so, yukon potato chip, smoked salmon and butter are supposed to be good together?) without any mention by the wait staff. Do they think guests don’t know the difference between butter and mayonnaise?Pros + location is central, variety, desserts!Cons – execution, NOISE
