We walked in on a Sunday from the train station, we were hungry and thirsty and GB’s was great! We were told that the dining room was full but the same food service was offered in the bar. We grabbed seats and the hostess was there immediately with menu’s. The waiter was extremely nice and asked if we wanted a certain channel on one of the big screen TV’s behind the bar. We told him we were starving and wanted to order, he said he’d put our order in right away. We all ordered different types of burgers withe the garlic fries and beers. The burgers were hot and juicy (and big!) and prepared just right. The fries were great, I can see myself coming back just for some fries and a beer. I tried the Pilsner beer served in a big cold glass and I liked it. This place would be great for happy hour. At the end we told the waiter we were going to Union Square and he offered to call us a cab which I thought was very thoughtful. I would definately eat here again, they also have an ou

Ive been hearing that Christoper’s Burgers was just as good if not better than Barneys Burgers. With 2 locations to choose from, we went to the Oakland location which would be a good compliment to an excellent dessert at Fentons Creamery. When we got to Christopher’s Burgers, it had appeared a tornado had passed through this restaurant. It was beat up…tables had food and empty dishes on many of the tables, floor was sticky, french fries on the floor, even the mayo containers were sitting in water as opposed to ice. The sign says it all…counter help needed. I felt sorry for the girl behind the counter, she was running around and obviously overworked. This would explain the long wait time to order. When we did get to order, I went with the Chris burger with California Jalepeno Cheese. beef – when the burger came out, it smelled like steak. Normally a good sign for quality of beef. Its almost on a par with Barneys, wasnt too crumbly, lean tasting, and heavy on the pepper seasoning.

The heirloom tomato salad would have been really good, save for the bullying visited upon it by a heavy handed truffling. Truffles are great and all, but like saffron, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. The nicoise was simple, rustic and cooked all the way through. Isn’t it supposed to just be seared? The aioli was past its expiry. The Serisin Savignon Blanc was very good. Service was ok. I might give it another try, just to be sure it wasn’t an off night.

Rudy?s is a meticulously crafted establishment, from its name (taken from a song title by The Clash) to its menu (a plethora of consistently delicious items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) to its decor (kitchy resin-coated tables, and an army of wall-mounted barbies dressed in Rudy?s uniforms). This is the perfect last stop for a weekend night out, or the perfect hangover remedy (after a weekend night out). The hash browns are heavenly, the cornmeal waffle is delicious, and the ?deuces wild? is the grown-up sister of the classic diner breakfast. Aside from the traditional fare is a handful of ?bay area?-esque alternative options like vegan hot cereal, 2 kinds of vegetarian sausage, and my favorite, the ?soyrizo scramble? (vegetarian chorizo scrambled with eggs, corn, and black beans ? topped off with sour cream and guacamole?awesome!). During peak hours the waits can get long, but the self-serve Peets coffee station helps pass the time. When the weather is nice, you can sit outs
