Where are the Best French Fries in Oxnard, California?
I haven’t been to the San Gabriel location but have frequented the Simi Valley on more than one occassion. The Hat is a typical sandwich shop with the traditional subs. Of the times I’ve been, I’ve only gotten the pastrami. As with this type of sandwich, it’s greasy and piled fairly high on the roll. I like the fact that the pastrami is peppery and melts in your mouth I would definitely recommend this place over a Subway or Togo’s as it has somewhat of a “diner” feel to it. There’s nothing special about the decor as it is quite muted and drab. I wouldn’t rate this place as high in the 9s but rather in the high 6s or low 7s. Nonetheless, if you like your sandwiches without that “chain” feeling, then this is the place to go.Pros + Pastrami sandwichesCons – None really
This is some of the best BBQ around! They have all sorts of meatsthey barbeque and it is all wonderful. Do not miss the peanut coleslawor the onion rings- they are both superb. If you doubt the greatnessof this establishment- just drive by on a Friday night and lookat the people waiting out front! They do not take reservationsexcept for large groups; we beat the crowds by going early (4-4:30)and catching a movie afterwards. The desserts are wonderful, too.
