Where are the best lamb shawarma kebabs in London?
The Shawarma kebab is the style of kebab very popular in eastern Turkey, and the most obvious difference is that the Shawarma is served in a wrap, the picture opposite is a good example of how popular this healthy fast food is. The wraps are laid out with the salad fillings, of pickled gherkin and sliced tomato. Although not pictured my favourites salad fillings include jalapenos and pickled turnip, which is a pinkish colour. Shawarma kebab meat is prepared in a similar way to traditional doner kebabs, by placing strips of marinated lamb on a spit. Which is then placed on a rotisserie and cooked very slowly for several hours. In the UK you will also find chicken shawarma is popular. You will have a choice of sauces for a shawarma kebab, the most frequently offered is garlic, tahini (Sesame) and chilli sauce. The wrap is then rolled and wrapped in paper for convenience and ease of eating, the picture to the right shows a picture of a Shawarma cut in half.
