Where are the headquarters for churches of Christ located?
Churches of Christ do not have a worldly headquarters. The New Testament churches were established with autonomy. That is, each congregation of the Lord’s church was presided over by a group of men known in the Scriptures as elders, bishops, pastors, presbyters, overseers, or shepherds (Acts 20:17, 28; 1 Peter 5:1-4; etc.) Those men had no authority beyond their own congregations, and their authority was derived from Christ (Hebrews 13:17; Ephesians 5:23). Christ was declared to be the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:23; Colossians 1:18). Since Christ still lives and is sitting on the right hand of God (1 Peter 3:22), He is still the head of the church, directing through His Word (John 6:63; 12:48), and no mortal man has the power to usurp or remove that authority from Him.
