Where can I buy a good omelette pan?
Most kitchen shops and cookware departments in large stores have a selection of omelette pans, from non-stick to aluminium and of differing sizes. Pans and knives are very much a personal thing. One might work brilliantly for one person, yet be useles for another. I have a grotty old pan that never seems to stick, even though I throw it in the dishwasher and occasionally take a green scrubber to it. But most will need looking after a little more respectfully. I am afraid it is a case of trial and error, although it is worth knowing that a failed omelette pan can be put to a thousand other kitchen uses including shallow frying small amounts of vegetables or for dry-frying spices. Start with a cheap and cheerful one, they are often the best, and expect your first few omelettes to stick and fail. I often don’t wash mine at all, simply wiping it out with kitchen roll.
